Experts at the SORBET Sapphire Institute carefully inspect every sapphire, going beyond the technical qualities of industry standards to hand-pick only those sapphires that are truly beautiful.
Of all the world’s sapphires, less than one percent are eligible to become SORBET quality.
Found in the depths of the earth, every polished SORBET sapphire starts out as an ancient mineral that is sourced from only a handful of carefully selected mines. To be selected as a SORBET source, each mine must meet the highest business, social and environmental standards.
After acquiring the rough sapphires from an approved source, SORBET specialists sort them, using great skill acquired over years of training to select only those sapphires of the highest quality.
After the highest quality rough sapphires have been selected by a SORBET specialist, master craftsmen use skills passed down through generations to cut and polish each sapphire, releasing its brilliance and life. The way a sapphire is cut and polished will determine how much it sparkles. The process of adding every facet takes time and patience; the slightest mistake can reduce a sapphire’s inner fire. A SORBET sapphire must be crafted to a cut grade of the highest standard, so the craftsmen must use their expertise to ensure each sapphire is created within these strict parameters. Once a sapphire has been cut and polished, it is sent to the SORBET Sapphire Institute. Here, our experts carefully evaluate every sapphire, going beyond industry standards to hand select only the most beautiful sapphires to become SORBET.
